Quick question – should I fill my XLIM pod right to the top or leave a gap? I've been filling mine to the very top each time because it seems obvious to maximise the liquid, but I keep reading about leaving a gap. What's the actual advice?
Leave a small gap – fill to about 80-85% capacity. There's a reason for it: the pod needs a small air pocket to equalise pressure as the device fires and as the liquid is consumed. Fill it to the absolute top and you remove that air pocket, which can cause the liquid to be forced out through the airflow holes and cause flooding or leaking.
Exactly right. The XLIM top-fill pods have a fill line for a reason. On the transparent section you can see it. Fill to that line, or slightly below, and leave the rest as air space. It also makes it easier to close the fill port without liquid squeezing out.
I can see the fill line now I know what to look for! Was going past it every time. Going to try the 85% fill on my next refill and see if the slight gurgling I sometimes get improves. Thanks both!
