I picked up some 70/30 VG/PG liquid and my XLIM pods are dying noticeably faster than they were on 50/50 nic salts. Going from about 10 days to 5-6 days. Is the 70/30 just too thick for the XLIM pods?
Yes, this is definitely the 70/30 ratio causing the issue. XLIM pods are designed for thinner liquids – 50/50 and salt-based formulations work best because the cotton and channels in XLIM pods are optimised for thin liquid viscosity.
70/30 VG is significantly thicker and doesn't wick through the cotton as efficiently. The coil ends up slightly dry between draws even when the pod is full, which means it's running hotter than it should and degrading faster.
For XLIM pods: stick to 50/50 or nic salts. Save 70/30 for sub-ohm kits like the VPrime or a mod. You'll immediately get pod life back to normal.
This is one of the most common causes of short pod life that people don't think to check. The XLIM guide on this site actually mentions it. 50/50 in XLIM, full stop. You'll thank yourself later.
Back on 50/50 nic salts and on day 9 already with the new pod. Night and day difference. Should have stuck to what was working. Cheers both!
