Got a drawer full of XLIM pods and a new VPrime - can I use them up?

Moved from an XLIM to a VPrime and I have about six unopened XLIM pods sitting there. They look roughly the same size. Is there any way to use them in the VPrime or have I just wasted the money on them?

No, unfortunately - VPrime pods and XLIM pods are different pod families. They are built for different device platforms and should not be treated as interchangeable. If you own a VPrime, buy VPrime pods; if you own an XLIM, stay in the XLIM pod family for that model.

Your instinct is completely understandable though, and it is one of the most common questions we get, for four reasons that all sound reasonable on their own. Same brand, so people assume the pods cross over. Both are compact pod devices, so the format looks similar at a glance. Retail listings often just say "OXVA pods" without making the family distinction obvious. And most of all, people ask precisely because they already own spares and want to use them - which is exactly where you are.

The money is not necessarily wasted. Unopened pods keep perfectly well, so if you are likely to go back to an XLIM at some point, or you know someone running one, they will still be good. What you should not do is try to force one into the VPrime bay - the fit and the platform are different, and you risk damaging the pod bay contacts on a new device.

Full detail is on our VPrime and XLIM pod compatibility page, and the wider pod compatibility matrix covers every OXVA family in one table if you want to check before your next order.

Did the same thing when I switched. The compatibility matrix is genuinely worth a bookmark - I now check it before ordering rather than after, which has saved me doing this twice.
