I keep seeing the XLIM Go 2 mentioned as a budget pick but it's been out for a while now. Is it still a good option or has it been superseded by newer kits? I'm looking for something basic and affordable as a backup/second device.
For a backup device the Go 2 is still excellent value in 2026. Its main strengths are: it's very cheap, it uses the standard XLIM top-fill pods (same as Pro 3 and 3 Ultra), and it's genuinely reliable. The features are minimal but for a backup device you don't need an OLED screen and wattage adjustment – you just need it to work.
The only reason to pay more for a backup is if you use your backup heavily enough that the feature gap matters. For occasional backup use or travel? Go 2 is perfect.
I've got a Go 2 as a backup and it's used probably 20% of the time. It's exactly what it needs to be. Would buy again. Don't overthink a backup device.
Ordered. At that price I'd have been mad not to. Cheers both – sometimes you just need someone to tell you not to overthink it!
